A bump map can be used to define deviations from a perfect sphere. Here, a bump map of mars is imported into Mathematica and then used to modify a perfect sphere in UV coordinates. In addition, a cylindrical projection image of Mars can be imported and mapped onto the modified sphere using UV texturing (texture mapping). Mathematica 8 introduces more native support for true UV mapping. Created by Jeff Bryant (jeffb@wolfram.com) |
