St. Petersburg

Our last stop on the Russia 2005 tour was the relatively young city of Peter the Great, the site of Lenin's 1918 revolution and home to very many world-class museums and performing arts groups. It is also home to Leyla's childhood friend Sveta and her family.

A view from St.Isaac's cathedral, we see the Admiralty spire closest, the greenish walls of the Ermitage museum behind and to the right, and across the river is the Cathedral of Peter and Paul. I think one of the top ten signs you might live in a European cultural center is that your Yellow Pages has a section for Cathedrals.
