The Louvre in Paris

The Louvre is on the short list of "must see" Paris sights. Now one of the world's most famous museums, it was originally a palace. Before the trip we had been reading the Three Musketeers. Imagine striding through this entranceway with D'Artagnon. He is on his way to an appointment with King Louis XIII after a morning's tennis match had turned into yet another squabble with Cardinal Richelieu's guards.
The Louvre has a large Egyptian collection. That and some Dutch paintings were all we had time to see. Sorry, we didn't observe the tourist rituals of seeing the Mona Lisa or the Venus de Milo. Don't turn us in.
