From Paris we flew to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan and Leyla's
hometown. Azerbaijan was one of the republics in the Soviet Union.
It is situated on the Caspian Sea in the Caucasus Mountains with
neighbors Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Iran. The Azeri language is
closely related to Turkish.
