Experience
Carlson started his computer graphics career developing molecular graphics applications at the Max Planck and European Molecular Biology laboratories in Germany. After a brief stint at the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation in Austria, where he taught Logic Programming and collaborated on art + technology projects, Carlson joined the User Interfaces group at Wolfram Research as an interactive graphics developer.
Mathematica Experience
Carlson first used Mathematica as a constraint solver and graphical front end for his graduate work in design and architecture. After joining Wolfram Research in 1994, Carlson developed the foundations of Mathematica's interactive graphics system and today continues to expand and improve Mathematica's 2D graphics. When time permits, Carlson enjoys exploring design topics with Mathematica: Exploring Logo Designs with Mathematica, Minimum Inventory, Maximum Diversity, Designing the Brick Wall of the Future
