Apropos of yet another Democrat whoring for abortion:
For Catholics, the Eucharist, the celebration of the living Christ, is the sacrament of unity, the ultimate binding power that holds the mystical body of Christ together. For the mystical body of Satan, the sacrament of abortion, the celebration of the death of innocents, is the parody, that binds all the mutual selfish antagonisms together in a hatred of life and the worship of power.
Dennis Kucinich, a Democratic member of the U. S. House of Representatives representing the Cleveland, Ohio, area, used to be a pro-life Catholic. Now he's a Democratic presidential candidate.
9600 visitors since I installed the counter on 30 September 2002. How should I commemorate number 10,000?

I found a crowd of Amish folks at the local restaurant this morning, and for the first time I heard them speaking their form of German. Just curious - after a few hundred years over here, how German is their German? It seemed "smoother", perhaps more drawled and soft-spoken than what I hear from the Germans and Austrians here at work.
Here's a review of Russell Kirk's The American Cause, on Kevin Holtsberry's blog.
I don't have time to type this week's 2nd readings from the Office of Readings, and it seems that this has also been the case in previous 6th weeks of ordinary time. My apologies.
At Tyre, in Phoenicia, the commemoration of many blessed martyrs whose number is known only to God. In the reign of the Emperor Diocletian, they were slaughtered by Veturius, a military officer. They were killed in turn by numerous varieties of torture. Their bodies were torn by scourges, and then they were thrown to different kinds of wild beasts. When by the power of God the beasts did not harm them, they gained their martyrdom by a barbarous use of fire and sword. The Bishops Tyrannio, Silvanus, Peleus, and Nilus, and the priest Zenobius, encouraged the glorious multitude to victory, and they too by a happy test obtained the palm of martyrdom, together with them.
At Constantinople, St. Eleutherius, bishop and martyr.
In Persia, the birthday of St. Sadoth, bishop, and one hundred twenty-eight others. On refusing to adore the sun, they obtained glorious crowns by their cruel death under Sapor, the Persian King.
On the island of Cyprus, the holy martyrs Potamius and Nemesius.
At Catania in Sicily, St. Leo, bishop, who was resplendent with virtues and miracles.
On the same day, St. Eucherius, Bishop of Orleans, who, the more he was harassed by calumny and envy, the more famous he became for his miracles.
At Tournai in Gaul, St. Eleutherius, bishop and confessor.
V. And elsewhere many other holy martyrs, confessors, and holy virgins.
R. Thanks be to God.
Anyone know where I can find prints of Fra Angelico's San Marco frescos?
