Were you a Jesus Freak in central Illinois in the 1970s? If so, do you remember Agape Acres? A vague memory of the place was jogged this afternoon while paging through a new biography of John Micheal Talbot: there's a picture of JMT sporting the standard-issue Jesus Freak beard and playing guitar at the Jesus Barn near Peoria in the early 1970s.
Mom was a bit too old for the hippie thing, but we went to Agape Acres a few times during the 1970's "young middle-class families worship with charismatic hippies at their quasi-commune" fad. Memories, anyone?
