Free OCR software for Linux
My plan for putting John Mason Neale's Mediaeval Hymns and Sequences online:
- photocopy the book while enlarging the tiny pages to 150%
- scan the photocopies and convert the files to pgm format
- use Clara OCR to process the pgm files and produce text. Clara is free, it runs under Linux, it's teachable, and it handles standalone electronic files.
