I usually don't write about politics or politicians because I can rarely do so charitably. I'll make an exception here since this involves one of those "a-ha" moments.
Zorak linked to a story about Senator Robert Byrd, Democrat of West Virginia, under the cute title "Byrd Didn't Inhale." The article is about Senator Byrd's membership in the Ku Klux Klan, which I've always classified as a group of very stupid violent rednecks; it describes the KKK as a domestic terrorist group. A-ha! That is the best description of the Klan I've ever found, and it brings a marvelous clarity to the case of that nauseating old windbag, the Dean of the Congress [sic], "The West Virginian of the 20th Century" [sick] and his vile cronies.
Posted by billw at January 15, 2003 01:51 PMSenator Byrd a Terrorist? Why don't you do some research on this topic of terrorism? At the time Byrd was a "member" of the Klan Bush's grandfather, Prescott, was in violation of Trading with the Enemy Act of the 1940's.
If you grew up in the South during the time of Byrd's youth it was necessary to join the Klan or voice approval of the activities of the Klan, you should research what happened to many whites who didn't support it.
And for the childish insult that Byrd is the windbag of the senate I think that reward went to Strom Thurmond, and unlike Byrd, he never apologized for his support of segregation.
If you, or anyone, continues to post any remarks that aim to dismantle the message of Democrats, and any party in opposition to Bush, I'll make sure to make remarks on anything you post.
