The Mathematica Fonts

A Preview of Fonts and Typesetting

The font families being prepared for the next major release of Mathematica will allow users access to most of the characters used in mathematical notation and technical publishing. Multiple type families in regular and bold weights will be supported, including a traditional style modelled to match Times-Roman (but which works with most pre-modern serif font styles). Examples of this family follow, in the roman weight.

(Traditional Form -- MathCharacters)
(Traditional Form -- MathOperators)
(Traditional Form -- MathExtensibles)

The MathExtensibles group supports bracketing characters that grow to any degree to match the size of contained expressions. Shown above are the initial fixed sizes.

Mathematica users are familiar with its standard input form syntax which is formatted in Courier (by default) to emphasize its function as a programming language. The following samples show much the same character set as above, but in a mostly mono-spaced, Courier compatible style designed for Mathematica standard form.

(Standard Form -- MathCharsMono)
(Standard Form -- MathOpsMono)
(Standard Form -- MathExtensMono)

Typeset samples are under construction....
